\u25ba Prof. Angela Ittel nominated for Femtec Award<\/h3>\n

Our President Prof. Angela Ittel is one of three finalists for the Femtec Award 2022 in the category Leadership. Femtec is looking for positive Role Models \u201cwho inspire their own team with authentic leadership and give people individual freedom to further their own development\u201d. In particular, the aspect of promoting intercultural, diverse and progressive understanding is emphasized. Everyone can still cast their vote<\/a> until 28 August!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Damage due to heavy rain<\/h3>\n

The heavy thunderstorm on Monday also caused water damage<\/a> in many university buildings. Employees of Division 3 and the affected facilities worked late into the night to prevent major damage. Many thanks to all those who actively helped to limit the damage!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Sensitive use of scarce resources begins with waste water<\/h3>\n

Water is also a precious commodity in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients and medicines. To enable pharmaceutical production wastewater to be purified more energy-efficiently, the Center of Pharmaceutical Engineering (PVZ) is researching water treatment under vacuum conditions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Hunting for viruses and antibodies with magnets<\/h3>\n

An alternative method to the current rapid virus tests is being developed at the TU Braunschweig. To achieve this, Dr Aidin Lak’s<\/a> junior research group “Metrology4Life” is bringing even five disciplines together.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Congratulations<\/h3>\n

to Philipp Knaus. For his master’s thesis “Refugium Regenerativum” at the Institute for Constructive Design, Industrial and Health Construction (IKE), he was awarded the Advance! Architecture for Health Student Award 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Twelve churches, five models and a book<\/h3>\n

\u2026 will be presented in the architecture pavilion on 23 August. The Institute for Building History<\/a> is showing models of the Romanesque village churches from Dettum, Erkerode, Evessen, Lucklum and Wendessen. After a guided tour of the exhibition, the Institute will present the book “Romanesque Village Churches in the Braunschweig Region”.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Publication of the new ERDF Directive<\/h3>\n

The Ministry of Science and Culture has published a new guideline<\/a> for funding innovation by universities and research institutions. The first deadline on 17 October is open to all topics.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Our darling literally blossomed this week. First white, then pink – this is how the Victoria water lily in the Botanical Garden displayed its flowering splendour<\/a>, which can only be seen on two nights a year.
