\u25ba New Governance Board confirmed and elected<\/h3>\n

On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed three incumbent Vice Presidents, Prof. Katja Koch, Prof. Knut Baumann and Prof. Peter Hecker, and elected two new members, Prof. Tatjana Schneider and Prof. Arno Kwade. Furthermore, the process for the election of another full-time Vice President for Digitisation and Sustainability was started. President Prof. Angela Ittel on the new Governance Board<\/a>: “I am convinced that we are excellently positioned to implement our ‘The University Development Initiative 2030’. I am very much looking forward to working together.”<\/p>\n

\u25ba Mobile vaccination team on the main campus<\/h3>\n

Throughout the week of 18 to 22 July, the City of Brunswick’s mobile vaccination team<\/a> will be on Pockelsstra\u00dfe in front of the Altgeb\u00e4ude every day from 10am to 6pm. First, second as well as booster vaccinations are available.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Role Model at TU Braunschweig<\/h3>\n

Prof. Beate Muschalla<\/a>, Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy and Diagnostics at the Institute of Psychology, is a first-generation academic. In an interview, she talks about her academic career to date, hurdles she has overcome, and what and who has accompanied her along the way.<\/p>\n

\u25ba 38.7 million EUR funding for Braunschweig-based Corona drug<\/h3>\n

The TU spin-off CORAT Therapeutics is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research: This will allow further clinical trials to be carried out until a corona drug is approved for the market by 2023. The active substance is based on antibodies developed at TU Braunschweig. Congratulations!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Oyster Reefs in the Wave Flume<\/h3>\n

What effects the spread of the Pacific oyster<\/a> in the Wadden Sea has on nature and coastal protection is being studied by the Leichtwei\u00df-Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources. For this purpose, they have placed oyster reef models from the 3D printer in the wave flume.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Students research 3D printing in zero gravity<\/h3>\n

The ERIG e.V., the “ExperimentalRaumfahrt-InteressenGemeinschaft” (Experimental Spaceflight Interest Group), is currently working on an experiment to explore the possibilities of manufacturing in space<\/a>. With this experiment, the students are participating in the REXUS\/BEXUS programme of DLR, ESA and other partners. The launch of the REXUS rocket is planned for March 2024.<\/p>\n

\u25ba What the battery factory of the future could look like<\/h3>\n

Anyone driving an electric car must be able to rely on the battery. A highly automated manufacturing process could detect faults during production and take countermeasures. TU Braunschweig is participating in a research project that deals with the prerequisites of such a future factory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Grid Control 2.0<\/h3>\n

The power supply system can also be operated without the stabilising effect of the synchronous generators of conventional power plants in the future. This was the conclusion of the experts of the research project “Grid Control 2.0”<\/a>, in which Prof. Bernd Engel’s team is significantly involved.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Interim report on the first ProDiGI funding round<\/h3>\n

The internal funding line “Promoting Digital education through Global Interconnection”<\/a> (ProDiGI) serves to network lecturers on the topic of digital international teaching at TU Braunschweig. The first funding round runs until September, the interim report is promising!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Networking in the Research Cluster<\/h3>\n

The working groups of the Research Programme Infections and Therapeutics will introduce themselves on 19 July with a poster marketplace<\/a> in the auditorium of the Haus der Wissenschaft. Poster presentations of the “Key Technologies\/Methods and Projects” will enable people to get to know each other at the marketplace.<\/p>\n

\u25ba International Entrepreneurship Summer School 2022<\/h3>\n

The International Entrepreneurship Summer School 2022<\/a> will take place from 22-29 August. An additional kickoff workshop will be offered on 14 August. This year, the summer school will focus on entrepreneurial skills and their practical application. Students, researchers and young scholars are cordially invited to participate.<\/p>\n

\u25ba “Children want to know”<\/h3>\n

The Haus der Wissenschaft Braunschweig invites children aged 8-12 to explore the world of science in its holiday programme<\/a>. On excursions to the Phaeno, participating children can explore the hands-on exhibition and experiment in courses. Registration for the programme is now open.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Priority Programme Calls of the German Research Foundation<\/h3>\n

In several priority programmes, scientists can apply with project proposals for participation and funding. The current calls for proposals and application deadlines can be found on the DFG website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Translational Research and Medicine<\/h3>\n

In autumn, the Translational Alliance in Lower Saxony TRAIN<\/a> will start a new year of the part-time continuing education programme “Translational Research & Medicine: From Idea to Product”. The kick-off event will take place on 6 October.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Prof. Durner honoured as Fellow<\/h3>\n

The Soil Science Society of America has honoured Prof. Wolfgang Durner as a Fellow. The annual awards are given for outstanding contributions to soil science. Congratulations!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Darlings of the week \u2013 Live in Concert! Finally, there is another opportunity to hear our University Choir and the University Orchestra live. Under the title “Terra X – Songs by and for Mother Earth”, the choir will perform two concerts<\/a> in the St. Andreas Church and in the Audimax. The orchestra will also perform its programme “Comeback – back in the game!”<\/a> in the Audimax.
