\u25ba First Diversity Day<\/h3>\n

On 14 July, we will set an example for diversity and anti-discrimination<\/a>. Among other things, the rainbow flag will be hoisted on University Square and there will be discussions with experts on the topic of “first-time graduates at universities”. In addition, various projects and initiatives that deal with these issues will present themselves.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New research building for battery research<\/h3>\n

In the future, research on the closed-cycle production of energy storage systems<\/a> will be pursued on about 3,700 square metres at the research airport. On 1 July, the Joint Science Conference of the Federal Government and the States (“Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz von Bund und L\u00e4ndern”, GWK) approved a funding volume of 52.8 million euros for this purpose.<\/p>\n

\u25ba How LEDs connect Braunschweig with Barcelona<\/h3>\n

“With time comes trust. And trust is a fertile ground for new projects.” Prof. Daniel Prades<\/a> from the University of Barcelona knows what he is talking about. After all, he has been researching together with the scientists at the Institute of Semiconductor Technology for years \u2013 and has no intention of stopping.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Network of German female infection researchers<\/h3>\n

Increased visibility and thus a stronger position as experts in more gender-equitable science communication \u2013 that is the goal of Infect-Net<\/a>, a network of German female infection researchers. Prof. Melanie Brinkmann is a member of the founding team.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Atom by atom towards the perfect LED<\/h3>\n

In the picture of the month, the Institute of Applied Physics<\/a> impressively shows what the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of electron microscopy is capable of: neatly lined up, one atom lies next to the other and forms the crystal structure of the semiconductor gallium nitride.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Saying goodbye to the car \u2013 but how?<\/h3>\n

Prof. Mark Vollrath<\/a> from the Institute of Psychology explores this question in the new episode of the podcast “Forsch!”. Among other things, he explains what makes a bicycle-friendly city and why he is conducting a study on the 9-Euro-Ticket.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Congratulations<\/h3>\n

\u2026 to Dr.-Ing. Julian Bauch<\/a>! The scientist from the Institute for Building History has received the award of the Koldewey Society. The prize honours the overall personality and recognises the exemplary commitment to contemporary approaches and methods in building research.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Best Paper and Best Student Presentation<\/h3>\n

Scientists from the Collaborative Research Center TRR 277 Additive Manufacturing in Construction (AMC)<\/a> are happy to have won two awards. At this year’s Digital Concrete, the leading international conference for digital fabrication with concrete, they received the Best Paper Award and the prize for the Best Student Presentation.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Innovation prize for TU-spin-off<\/h3>\n

Aeon Robotics has won the Lower Saxony Innovation Award<\/a> in the “Vision” category. The robotics start-up received the prize for its “HandEffector” robot system, which can intuitively learn gripping forces and movements without prior knowledge, modelled on the human gripping apparatus.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Course catalogue on sustainable development<\/h3>\n

The Green Office is preparing a course catalogue for the winter semester 2022\/23, which will include all events that deal with one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>. Suggestions can be submitted until 22 July<\/a>, including the title and the course number.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Strengthening Lower Saxony-Scotland university cooperation<\/h3>\n

Intensifying connections between Lower Saxony and Scottish universities and establishing new ones is the aim of the Lower Saxony – Scotland Joint Forum<\/a> on 21 and 22 November. Interested university members can now register free of charge and submit workshop topics.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Scholarships for female PhD students<\/h3>\n

Professors, together with the female doctoral candidates they supervise at TU Braunschweig, can apply to the Equal Opportunity Office by 21 July for a doctoral degree grant<\/a>. The prerequisite is that the doctorate has been delayed for family reasons or for reasons of particular hardship and the previous funding has expired.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Participation scholarships for GAIN22<\/h3>\n

Until July 15, postdocs who have recently returned from abroad can apply for a participation grant to the Annual Meeting and Talentfair GAIN22<\/a>. The conference will take place from 2 to 4 September in Bonn.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

“Sharing is the new having” is the motto of our darling of the week. With the sharing module<\/a> on the Sandkasten platform, all members of TU Braunschweig can offer items for loan or borrow something themselves.
