\u25ba Lower Saxony state government met at TU Braunschweig<\/h3>\n

The state government’s visit focused on “technology development and the automotive industry”. For good reason, the cabinet meeting<\/a> took place at the Automotive Research Centre Niedersachsen (NFF), one of the largest university centres for mobility research in Germany. Afterwards, the politicians informed themselves about current research projects.<\/p>\n

\u25ba The perfect climate for research<\/h3>\n

During his visit to the Leichtwei\u00df Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources (LWI), Minister for the Environment Olaf Lies was able to take a look at Europe’s first experimental facility for research on permafrost coasts<\/a>. In the new climate chamber, the LWI team, is researching how permafrost soils on coasts erode under wave loads, i.e. are washed out.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Prof. Timo de Wolff new spokesman of Die Junge Akademie<\/h3>\n

Mathematician Prof. Timo de Wolff<\/a> from the Institute for Analysis and Algebra took office as the new speaker of Die Junge Akademie on June 5. This is de Wolff’s second term as a member of the presidium.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Glasgow and Braunschweig collaborate on hydrogen research<\/h3>\n

The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow is collaborating with TU Braunschweig as part of the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Scottish-German research programme: The aim is to develop a digital toolbox for hydrogen production<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Survey for family car of the future<\/h3>\n

The development of the automated family car autoELFE is part of the UNICARagil project, funded by the BMBF. In order to determine the requirements and possible applications for the family car, the Institute of Psychology are conducting a survey<\/a>. Parents and guardians with underage children are being sought as participants until August 31.<\/p>\n

\u25ba ScienceHero Award for Melanie Brinkmann<\/h3>\n

On 11 June, virologist Prof. Melanie Brinkmann was awarded the ScienceHero Award<\/a>. With this, the Conference of Biological Sciences honours people and organisations that stand for good teaching, creative research and knowledge transfer.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New research catalogue published<\/h3>\n

On 216 pages, the new research catalogue<\/a> provides an overview of almost all professorships and research activities at TU Braunschweig. It also presents the nine research centres and two clusters of excellence. It is published in german and english, available online and can be requested in printed form from BRICS.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Live green<\/h3>\n

In the second part of the interview series\u00a0 “Saving energy at TU Braunschweig”<\/a>, Beatriz Garcia Minguez, team member at Enactus, explains how stickers and “nudging” can help save energy. To do this, she designs stickers with the Enactus project “Live Green” and places them in prominent places in the university to remind people to conserve resources.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Making digitisation tangible<\/h3>\n

With a total of ten exciting projects, we are participating in the nationwide Digital Day on 24 June<\/a>. The programme revolves around “Digital Participation in the Future City” and was developed in cooperation between the Transfer and Cooperation House, the Core Research Area “Future City” and the City of Braunschweig.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Green Office Sustainability Day<\/h3>\n

On 21 and 22 June, the TUmorrow Day<\/a> will take place for the first time. A colourful programme of events will provide an opportunity to learn about the topic of sustainability from different perspectives. Please register for the workshops in advance and free of charge. Tickets must also be purchased for the concluding Science Slam.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Floating furniture on the river<\/h3>\n

Students of the Institute of Architecture-Related Arts are accompanying the documenta15 project “Citizenship”<\/a>. For the ship’s stop on 24 and 25 June near the S\u00fclfeld sluice in Wolfsburg, they have built a very special kind of water-suited furniture.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Building of the future: digitalised, individualised, climate-friendly<\/h3>\n

Prof. Harald Kloft<\/a> from the Institute of Structural Design will talk about this on 22 June in the Red Salon of Braunschweig Castle. The lecture is part of the Academy Lectures of the Braunschweig Scientific Society.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Bahnstadt and Bahnhofsviertel \u2013 Sustainability in Urban Development<\/h3>\n

In a panel discussion<\/a> on 23 June in “Die H_LLE”, the planners, including Prof. Uwe Brederlau, will give an insight into the development of the neighbourhoods around Braunschweig’s main railway station. Together with Prof. Tatjana Schneider and the BDA-Braunschweig, they will discuss how sustainable issues are reflected in the planning.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Intercultural Workshops on the History, Culture and Language of Ukraine<\/h3>\n

… are organised by the Language Centre at the International House<\/a> on three separate dates in June and July. They are open to anyone interested. Registration for the first workshop on 24 June is now open.<\/p>\n

\u25ba MS Wissenschaft drops anchor<\/h3>\n

Together with the Haus der Wissenschaft Braunschweig, the MS Wissenschaft invites you to a “Dialogue on Deck”<\/a> at the Haus der Wissenschaft on 21 June. The discussion will focus on the future viability of digital teaching models. In addition, the science ship and its exhibition “Nachgefragt” will be docked in Braunschweig harbour from 21-23 June.<\/p>\n

\u25ba 10 years Jour fixe of the central and decentralised administration<\/h3>\n

The Vice-President for Human Resources, Finance and Infrastructure, Dietmar Smyrek<\/a>, invited everyone to the Jour fixe anniversary in the Audimax of TU Braunschweig on 9 June. A 100 employees from the central and decentralised administration looked back on the past 10 years together and exchanged thoughts on current concerns.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Research Workshop Market and Purchasing Behaviour<\/h3>\n

The one-day workshop<\/a> is aimed at empirically researching doctoral students in the field of economics and social sciences. The central topic is experiments for the implementation of hypotheses in corresponding experimental designs.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New Indo-German Funding Initiative in Medical Research<\/h3>\n

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) announce a joint funding initiative<\/a> for Indo-German cooperation in medical research. The first call addresses research proposals in the field of toxicology, the deadline for submission is 30 September.<\/p>\n

\u25ba EU TALENTON<\/h3>\n

Young researchers between the ages of 21 and 35 are invited to apply to EU TALTENON<\/a> by the end of June to work together on the EU’s future issues at a workshop in Leiden in September.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Improving mental health: H-Work project<\/h3>\n

A survey<\/a> by the Workplace Health Management and the EU project H-Work deals with topics such as workload, teamwork and leadership behaviour with the aim of promoting the health and well-being of employees at TU Braunschweig, among others. Participation is possible digitally.<\/p>\n
