\u25ba ZEIT supplement: On the transfer to society<\/h3>\n

The important role technical universities play in the development of innovations is shown in the TU9 supplement in the weekly newspaper “DIE ZEIT”<\/a>. The portrait of TU Braunschweig makes clear how the transfer between science and society can succeed as a bottom-up approach.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Body’s own anti-inflammatory substance discovered<\/h3>\n

The BRICS team led by Prof. Karsten Hiller has discovered a molecule that is effective against an overactive immune system<\/a>. As a drug candidate, it can be further developed, for example, to treat shock resulting from blood poisoning and autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis.<\/p>\n

\u25ba The BioS biotechnological school laboratory is 20 years old!<\/h3>\n

Pupils in Braunschweig can explore biotechnological phenomena together with real researchers \u2013 at BioS on the Science Campus Braunschweig-S\u00fcd. On 9 June, the extracurricular place of learning celebrated its twentieth anniversary<\/a> \u2013 together with guests from Hannover.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Sarah Reisman and Christian Hertweck receive Inhoffen Medals<\/h3>\n

Nature is an important source of active substances used in medicine. The corresponding field is called natural compound chemistry. For outstanding research achievements in natural compound chemistry, the HZI and TU Braunschweig have awarded two scientists the Inhoffen Medal<\/a>. Congratulations!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Asphalt anti-aging<\/h3>\n

Researchers from the Braunschweig Pavement Engineering Center (ISBS)<\/a> and the University of Swansea have developed an anti-ageing binder for asphalt using nanoparticles. The nanocomposite of clay and and fumed silica makes the asphalt less susceptible to moisture and aging.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Survey in the “5G Living Lab in the Mobility Region Braunschweig-Wolfsburg” project<\/h3>\n

In the 5G Living Lab<\/a>, the mobile communications standard 5G is presented and tested on practical use cases. The aim is to involve different interests in the development process at an early stage. In one sub-project, the researchers are looking into the measurement of behavioural and health data. Anyone can take part in the survey<\/a> until 10 July.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Summertime is festival time!<\/h3>\n

That’s why we’re celebrating the LiteraTUrfestival<\/a> on Campus North on 24 June. Four authors will read from their current works: Jenny Erpenbeck, Yannic Han Biao Federer, Tamara Bach and Nils Mohl. There will also be a food truck and popcorn. Feel free to bring picnic blankets!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Prof. Deserno elected Fellow of the International Academy of Health Science Informatics<\/h3>\n

Membership in the Academy of Health Science Informatics (IAHSI) is considered a high honour that recognises expertise in biomedical and health informatics internationally. Among the 15 newly elected Fellows is Prof. Thomas M. Deserno<\/a> from the Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Accessible (learning) media, digital escape games, research-oriented teaching<\/h3>\n

The Teaching and Media Education Team invites you to exciting events related to its continuing education programme. An overview of all dates and the possibility to register can be found on the website<\/a>. The European network Science Business publishes on their website the current versions of the workprogrammes<\/a> in Horizon Europe, including the draft developments for 2023\/24. Horizon Europe is the EU’s framework programme for research and innovation with a total budget of \u20ac95.6 billion.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Even though it makes for an empty campus, excursion week is still our darling of the week. Whether to Vienna<\/a>, as at the Institute for Constructive Design, or to Berlin<\/a>, as at the Institute for Historical Studies – traditionally, Pentecost week offers space for excursions.
