How can urban factories be integrated into urban environments? And how can production be as sustainable and with few emissions as possible? This is the focus of the Junior Research Group “Urban Flows and Production”, headed by Dr Kolja Meyer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba On the colour design of scientific publications<\/h3>\n

Colour illustrations are ubiquitous in science. Often, unintentionally, accessibility and accuracy fall by the wayside. To ensure that all readers get full access to the information content, Dr Felix Kaspar has developed design principles<\/a> together with the Swiss geologist and designer Dr Fabio Crameri.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Architecture students refurbish half-timbered house<\/h3>\n

For the second time, a group of architecture students<\/a> has been to the Eifel to help rebuild after last year’s flood. The teams from the Institute for Sustainable Urbanism (ISU) and the Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture (IBEA) are helping to refurbish a half-timbered house that was severely damaged by the flood.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Reading Thomas Mann!<\/h3>\n

Thomas Mann’s literary and essayistic texts are subjected to a literary and cultural re-reading in the new lecture series of the Institute of German Studies<\/a>. The first lecture on 26 April will be “Literature as Knowledge” by Prof. Renate Stauf, who unfortunately could not give a farewell lecture due to Corona. The lectures will take place in the Haus der Wissenschaft, Braunschweig.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Back to face-to-face teaching<\/h3>\n

The Team Teaching and Media Education<\/a> is organising an impulse on 5 May on the topic of “Increasing interactivity in face-to-face teaching”. Speaker Tobias Ortelt from the Centre for Higher Education will present concepts and tools for increasing the active participation of students, which can be tried out directly in the event.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Establishing English-Language Study Programmes<\/h3>\n

How do you establish an English-language (Master’s) degree programme? Which framework conditions are important, which phases of the student life cycle need to be considered? Answers to these questions are provided by the attendance workshop<\/a> “Developing and Establishing English-Language Study Programmes” of the Project House on 25 May.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Testing tools in a workshop<\/h3>\n

The motto of the Projekthaus’ workshop “#DigitalThinking<\/a>” on 16 May is “Join in and redesign the future of teaching and learning!” All students and teachers at TU Braunschweig are welcome to participate.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Seed money to be awarded<\/h3>\n

The Core Research Area “Future City”<\/a> would like to promote collaboration on research topics on the future city and is awarding staff funding for two project ideas to support the application phase. The deadline for applications is 15 June.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Additional Funding for the Preparation and Storage of Research Data<\/h3>\n

Researchers<\/a> who are currently funded by the Volkswagen Foundation or have been funded in approximately the last 6 months are eligible to apply for up to 100.000 Euro for the preparation and storing of research data.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Individual project funding by Fritz Thyssen Foundation<\/h3>\n

The project funding of the Fritz Thyssen Foundation<\/a> supports scientists in the humanities and social sciences as well as biomedicine in temporary research projects. Applications can be submitted until September 15.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Femtec at TU Braunschweig<\/h3>\n

With the start of the summer semester, the career-building scholarship Femtec<\/a> offers female STEM students at TU Braunschweig a comprehensive scholarship for personal career development. Female Master students can apply for the programme until 15 May.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Our darling of this week is the very heart of our university -\u2013 all our students<\/a>, lecturers, administrative staff and other TU members, who have finally been filling the campus with life again since the beginning of this summer semester!
