\u25ba Special deadline for sponsorship of Ukrainian researchers at risk<\/h3>\n

In the light of the current crisis situation, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation<\/a> is creating the opportunity to submit well-founded applications for acutely endangered Ukrainian researchers even during the current selection round of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative. The special deadline for nominations is 18 March.<\/p>\n

\u25ba First reactions of TU Braunschweig to the war in Ukraine<\/h3>\n

After intensive consideration, the Governance Board of the TU Braunschweig has decided to temporarily suspend<\/a> scientific activities with Russia and Belarus. This was preceded by clear requests from the HRK, the DAAD, the DFG and the MWK. The International House is working hard on a support program for Ukrainian students and researchers and for Ukrainian refugees. A cross-departmental task force, assigned by the Governance Board and organized by the International House, intensively exchanges information on operational issues, advises the Governance Board and becomes the central contact for TU-internal requests.<\/p>\n

\u25ba President’s Spotlight: For a university with the highest standards<\/h3>\n

In order to lead TU Braunschweig to holistic excellence, numerous challenges have to be mastered. In her spotlight<\/a>, President Professor Angela Ittel shows what role the “University Development Initiative 2030” plays on this path.<\/p>\n

Where they see the greatest need for action to overcome the disadvantage and inequality of women, we wanted to know from three members of our university. \u25ba “Action and Information”<\/h3>\n

… is the motto of the Equal Opportunity Office<\/a> for International Women’s Day on 8 March. For this purpose, a website has been set up that brings together information, news and event notices that are mainly aimed at women. In addition, an event will start on the Universit\u00e4tsplatz at 12 noon to make the new page visible. All TU members are kindly invited to participate!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Picture of the Month<\/h3>\n

This mobile robot with radar-based sensor unit is capable of ground-penetrating scans to a depth of 40 centimetres in which the reflections produced by rocks and other solid materials are visualised. With the help of such underground mapping<\/a>, it should be possible to develop autonomous vehicles that can navigate without the help of lasers and cameras.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Appointment to the Board of Trustees of the Volkswagen Foundation<\/h3>\n

Professor Vanessa Miriam Carlow<\/a>, Head of the Institute for Sustainable Urbanism, is one of the new members of the Volkswagen Foundation’s highest decision-making body. As an architect and urban planner, she would like to focus her efforts there on research for the sustainable development of the built environment in cities and the countryside.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Niedersachsen Technikum: A model of success<\/h3>\n

Last week, the tenth class of the Niedersachsen Technikum<\/a> was bid farewell with a digital ceremony.The programme is designed for young women who have completed their Abitur or Fachabitur and are interested in studying STEM subjects. In the magazine, they reveal what they have learned and what’s next for them.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Information event for young researchers<\/h3>\n

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft<\/a> (DFG, German Research Foundation) offers regular information events in German and English on its funding opportunities for young researchers.<\/p>\n

\u25ba EIT Manufacturing Call for Proposals 2023<\/h3>\n

Until 11 March, drafts can be submitted to work on projects in 2023 on topics such as “smart technologies for green manufacturing processes” or “AI and digital twins in manufacturing systems”. Applications can be submitted via the coordinator for EIT Manufacturing projects<\/a> at TU Braunschweig, Bastian Thiede<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Communication, Cooperation, Collaboration<\/h3>\n

In the joint project Co\u00b3Learn, TU Braunschweig, Leibniz Universit\u00e4t Hannover and Georg-August-Universit\u00e4t G\u00f6ttingen are developing a digital toolbox to improve collaborative teaching and learning. With the help of a questionnaire<\/a>, the needs for the toolbox are being determined.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New courses and formats of the Team Teaching and Media Education<\/h3>\n

The qualification offers of the Team Teaching and Media Education<\/a> for the summer semester 2022 have been published.The focus is on the further development of teaching in cooperation with students and colleagues.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Who will win the Carolo-Cup@Home?<\/h3>\n

Nine teams<\/a> send their automated driving vehicles into the race in this year’s Carolo-Cup@Home. In the magazine, they report on their preparations, strengths and challenges during the competition. The winners will be announced in a livestream on 17 March.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Studentenwerk opts out of REBOWL system<\/h3>\n

From 1 April, the Studentenwerk<\/a> will no longer use plastic bowls for takeaway food. Intensive testing has shown that the deposit bowls are not sustainable due to the usage behaviour of the guests and under the conditions of the Studentenwerk. Instead, guests are asked to take their food in their own containers in future.<\/p>\n

\u25ba \u201cWebex Meetings\u201d becomes \u201cWebex\u201d<\/h3>\n

As of 8pm tonight, the Gau\u00df-IT-Zentrum<\/a> is conducting a mandatory migration of “Webex Meetings” to “Webex”. Non-migrated client programmes are considered obsolete from Monday 7 March and must be compulsorily updated in the morning.<\/p>\n
