Yesterday, 27 January, the national day of remembrance, TU Braunschweig remembered all victims of National Socialism. The President, Professor Angela Ittel, and student representatives laid wreaths and flowers at the <\/span>Stolperschwelle in front of the Altgeb\u00e4ude<\/span><\/a> and commemorated the displaced, discriminated, persecuted and murdered.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Commiserations on the terrible events at the University of Heidelberg<\/h3>\n

Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig is deeply shocked by <\/span>the terrible events on the campus of the University of Heidelberg<\/span><\/a>. We are horrified and stunned by the act. Our deepest sympathy goes to the students affected, their relatives and all members of the university.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Closing vaccination gaps<\/h3>\n

In order to find a way out of the pandemic, Minister President Stephan Weil is asking the universities in Lower Saxony to support vaccination campaigns to close the vaccination gaps. We are happy to join in this effort. You can find current vaccination offers on the <\/span>page of the city of Braunschweig<\/span><\/a>! Until at least the end of February, you can continue to get vaccinated on Thursdays in the sports hall at Rebenring. Together with his wife Elana and their four sons, <\/span>Professor Aaron Becker<\/span><\/a> from the University of Houston in the US state of Texas will be in Braunschweig until late summer, working as a visiting professor with Professor S\u00e1ndor Fekete in the Algorithmics Department. His stay has been supported by a scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Students develop business models for research<\/h3>\n

A seminar of the Entrepreneurship HUB aims to make scientific research results marketable. To this end, <\/span>business model approaches<\/span><\/a> are being developed for researchers at TU Braunschweig. Applications for the summer semester 2022 are possible until 15 February.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba A look into the future of the “Haus der Wissenschaft”<\/h3>\n

Since 1 January, <\/span>Dr. des. Jeremias Othman<\/span><\/a> has been the new managing director of the Haus der Wissenschaft. Under his leadership, science enthusiasts can look forward to new projects such as the “Salon of Science – Questions for the Future\u201d as well as popular “classics” such as the “Science Slams” in this and the upcoming years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Kick-Off HIT 2022<\/h3>\n

This year, the <\/span>HIT<\/span><\/a> will take place online on 9 and 10 June. For a first opportunity to talk, ask questions and get more information, the project team is organising a kick-off meeting on 17 February.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Protection and support for researchers at risk<\/h3>\n

The <\/span>Philipp Schwartz Initiative<\/span><\/a> is calling for nominations of researchers from outside the EU who are facing verifiably significant and acute threats until 4 March. The programme allows for research stays of up to three years as well as a grant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Research Institute of Teacher Education invites you to an <\/span>online lecture by Norbert Maritzen<\/span><\/a> from the Institute for Educational Quality Improvement (IQB) on 31 January. “Research in Germany” promotes the participation of (aspiring) founders in the “<\/span>Young Innovators Week<\/span><\/a>” in S\u00e3o Paulo from 23 to 27 May. The aim is to network on-site with companies, startups, peers and experts in German-Brazilian cooperation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What do exams at a campsite, wild flamingos and a flat tyre have in common<\/span>? It may sound like the beginning of a joke question, b<\/span>ut <\/span>Moses K\u00f6hler<\/span><\/a> experienced all this and more during his 2,400-kilometre bicycle trip to Lisbon. You read that right! The 27-year-old TU student combined his passion for bikes and his desire to spend a semester abroad and turned his trip to the Universidade de Lisboa into a “Tour de Erasmus”.
