\u25ba Icy comet as soft as ash<\/h3>\n

During the landing attempt on the comet “Tschuri”, “Philae” exposed remarkable ice: 4.5 billion years old “primeval matter” – as old as the earth and soft as ashes. The Institute for Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics<\/a> has now published its data analysis of the mission in the magazine “Nature”.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Tsunami in the wave channel<\/h3>\n

As part of an international team, the Leichtwei\u00df-Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources<\/a> generated tsunami-like waves at the Great Wave Channel. The researchers want to know how safe structures are when their piers and walls are flooded.<\/p>\n

The ProZell competence cluster<\/a> aims to make German battery cells more powerful, cost-effective and environmentally friendly. In order to bring research to industry, the third Prozell Industry Day was held digitally this week.<\/p>\n

Where do I get food, who helps me with finances and housing, what about childcare? With the second wave, the Studentenwerk’s news ticker<\/a> will be extended again. The bridging aid is especially remarkable: The Studentenwerk helped more than 1,500 TU students in the summer semester with over 700,000 euros. The new emergency fund starts in November.<\/p>\n

Our darlings of the week deal with terahertz, tropical fungi and defence cells – and have each been awarded the Heinrich-B\u00fcssing-Preis 2020.
