In ihrer Antrittsvorlesung wird sie exemplarisch zeigen, wie ihr Labor metabolische Heterogenit\u00e4t und das Zusammenspiel von Zellen und Krankheitserregern charakterisiert, indem sie Stoffwechselfl\u00fcsse, Massenspektrometrie und molekulartechnische Ans\u00e4tze kombiniert. Ziel ist es, den menschlichen Stoffwechsel w\u00e4hrend Entz\u00fcndungskrankheiten besser zu verstehen, um metabolische Schwachstellen zu identifizieren und mit Therapeutika zu behandeln.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zur Person<\/strong><br \/>\nThekla Cordes begann ihre akademische Laufbahn mit einem Diplom in Biotechnologie an der Technischen Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig (Deutschland), bevor sie bei Novartis Biologics in Basel (Schweiz) in der Forschung im Bereich Bioverfahrenstechnik t\u00e4tig war. Thekla Cordes promovierte am Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (Luxemburg). Sie war Stipendiatin der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) und gewann den Research Specialist Award (NIH) als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der University of California, San Diego (UCSD) und am SALK Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla (USA). Derzeit ist Thekla Cordes Professorin f\u00fcr Zellmetabolismus am <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tu-braunschweig.de\/bbt\/bioinfo\/groups\/cellular-metabolism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut f\u00fcr Biochemie, Biotechnologie und Bioinformatik<\/a> der Technischen Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig (Deutschland), Leiterin der Gruppe \u201eMetabolismus bei Infektionen\u201c (CMII) am Helmholtz-Zentrum f\u00fcr Infektionsforschung (HZI) und Mitglied des Braunschweig Integrated Centre of Systems Biology (BRICS).<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Inaugural Lecture \u201eBig data-driven discoveries in the specialized plant metabolism\u201c<br \/>\nby Prof. Dr. Boas Pucker<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Boas Pucker and his group elucidate biosynthesis pathways of specialized plant metabolites. Plants produce a plethora of specialized metabolites including potential drug candidates. Understanding the biosynthesis is crucial for biotechnological applications. A wide range of methods from omics to molecular biology are integrated for this purpose. The inaugural lecture will highlight the power of big data for the discovery of novel pathways. Fundamental concepts of specialized plant metabolism and methods established within the research group will be presented. Examples of successfully identified biosynthesis pathways will be provided.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CV:<\/strong> Boas Pucker is leading the research group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tu-braunschweig.de\/ifp\/pbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Plant Biotechnology and Bioinformatics<\/a> as professor at TU Braunschweig. He is also a member of the BRICS and head of the iTUBS technology transfer center \u201cPlant Genomics and Applied Bioinformatics\u201d. Boas obtained his doctoral degree at the Faculty of Biology at Bielefeld University, studying plant genomes and gene functions. After a short transitional postdoc at Ruhr-University-Bochum, where he worked on plant genome assembly, Boas moved to the University of Cambridge (UK) as a postdoctoral fellow. Here, Boas joined the Brockington lab to investigate the complex evolution of anthocyanins and betalains in the Caryophyllales.
