The international dimensions in higher education have evolved in a substantive way, but also moved in all kinds of different directions. This keynote explores the evolution of internationalization in higher education, its main benefits and challenges and lessons that can be learned from the past for the future of internationalization. In addition, it highlights its opportunities, risks and the key emerging strategies as well as geopolitical challenges in internationalization and how to best address them.
