Structural model: Receptor binding domain of the spike protein (red) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus bound to the human ACE2 receptor (blue). The virus uses the ACE2 receptor as a docking site and gateway into human cells. This receptor domain of the virus is suitable for serological detection of antibodies against the virus in humans. The receptor binding domain is produced at the TU Braunschweig and used in the ATAC project. Photo credit: Illustration: Philip Heine, Department of Biotechnology/TU Braunschweig
